OK, so we have at least got past the previous problem.

I can't see why that would be failing on 10.6.8 but work on 10.10.1 -
it seems it must be talking about the toolbar icons (since they get
loaded at that point), but those images are PNG which isn't a new
format, and should work on the older OS X.

I've tried changing aven to compile in the images, which may help this,
and it probably better in general - previously aven had to load the
toolbar and tab icons individually from separate files, which can't help
the initial startup time when you haven't run aven recently and the
images aren't cached.

If you're using OS X < 10.9, please try this and report how you get on.
