Does this still happen with the "1.2.7a" build?
It is interesting that double clicking the root of the prefix tree
is different to pressing delete. Double-clicking on the prefix
tree root does these steps:
* If the measuring line is active, it clears the "there" point (the
anchored end of the measuring line)
* Clears any active station search
* Does what pressing delete does
I suspect it must be the first one of these that's helping. If the
measuring line is active, this results in aven asking wxwidgets to
redraw the rectangle containing the measuring line, which I guess must
kick things out of the odd state they've somehow got into.

What's happening is that only the bit in the middle is getting redrawn
for some reason. The area around it just stays in the state it was in
when it was last redrawn, which happened at two different times in this
case.
