The way things currently are, it's unlikely that aven itself is going to
get ported to the iPad or iPhone. Apple have locked things down and are
firmly in control, so unless a user is prepared to root their phone,
they can only install stuff from Apple's app store, where Apple alone
get to decide if an app gets listed, and they seem more than a little
capricious. So someone could put a lot of effort into doing a port,
only to find that the app doesn't get approved, or the approval gets
revoked.

There's also a US$99/year developer fee just for having apps in the
store. I don't want to start charging for Survex, and I don't want to
cripple it with ads, especially as these devices don't have big screens
to start with.

So probably your best option is to use some existing viewer for the
device which supports a format you can export to.

Incidentally, things look a lot more promising for Android tablets
and phones, where devices have a user-controlled option to allow
installing apps from elsewhere. The main issue there is that wxWidgets
doesn't support it, so it would need a reasonable amount of
restructuring work on aven. They do at least support a subset of
OpenGL, so the rendering code should be shareable.

Cheers,
