final comment on SD (Re: algorithm ...)

It does seem that, whilst exposing what is going on to examination, all
these ideas are fudges. Surely it would be better to integrate the whole
thing into code ? Since what is beng stated is that two points in the survey
must, by the laws of physics, be at the same level, surely what is needed
is a way of just saying this in the survey data, and allowing the program to
implement the sorts of calculations that have been outlined previously ?
