For the benefit of the unskilled amongst us, I cannot find a survex plugin within what is available on QGIS3.14 on my W10 desktop. So how do I install this?

This is now available in debian unstable and ubuntu Focal https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/qgis3-survex-import
and should be in Debian testing in 5 days time.
User info: https://packages.debian.org/sid/qgis3-survex-import

Also, so is inkscape-survex-export (tool for generating centrelines from existing paper surveys) User info: https://packages.debian.org/sid/main/inkscape-survex-export
Developer: https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/inkscape-survex-export

And inkscape speleo:
User info: https://packages.debian.org/sid/main/inkscape-speleo
Developer: https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/inkscape-speleo
(inkscape plugin for import/export of th2 files and import of pockettopo files for drawing in inkscape)

So you don't have to download and build/install random stuff, just install the packages

File bugs (or mail this list) if you find problems.
