Printing w/tubes

Just to note that when I try, on Ubuntu, to over-expand the viewport off
the viewable screen and take a 'File--> Screenshot' I get a correctly sized
image but with everything off-screen black & a picture of my taskbar to
boot.

Entirely possible this is just my funky setup!
But I'd be interested in how I could get this to work, as I've used a
'screenshot' as the starting point for a few different visualisations now,
and it'd be useful to have the option of increasing the res.
