Surface legs in compass files when mixed with svx files

Hi all

We are working on a mixed data set at the moment, which contains both 
compass files and svx files. It is simple enough to include the compass 
files, however, the information about the surface legs is lost in aven, 
which is a bit of a pain. To overcome this without typing it all into 
Survex I am working on splitting the files up and then adding flags in 
the svx compilation file, which works fine. See attached files. however 
as soon as I remove the comment from the fix it breaks. Being stating at 
this too lon, can someone please point out what I am doing wrong.

(the ideal solution is that survex understands the tags in the compass 
files, but as the fix is in the make file, this might still cause problems)
