Using Compass files

I may have asked this before, if so I didn't get an answer that I remember.

Some of our datasets include both Survex and Compass material. This 
works fine except that surface legs which have been commented out to be 
excluded from a plot still show up in the Survex 3D file - and as 
ordinary legs, not surface legs.

Is there a way of getting round this? Apart, of course from redoing that 
part of the damn thing directly into Survex which I don't really want to do.
