Degree and minutes survey data

Hi all

Stacho asked back in 2003 if it is possible to enter into survex
values such as 10 degrees and 20 minutes in the native form. 
Did something come of that? I now have quite a bit of data in that form from a
forestry compass.

I know you were thinking of something like  <DEG>:<MIN>'<SEC> instead of
<DEG>°<MIN>'<SEC> but given how common utf-8 is I would think that one could
support the ° character? Maybe add even a command *encoding utf-8 which could be
added to a survex file to indicate it contains extended characters.
