For what it's worth, I find the Aven's new user interface a huge improvement
on the old one. I always seemed to accidentally rotate when I wanted to
zoom...

Also good to see Olly pushing back on the "computing arrogance" that
sometimes creeps into postings on this list!

I thought I'd see if 1.1.1 fixed arithmetic precision problem I reported a
few weeks ago.

*fix test.1 0,0,0
*begin test
1 2 10 90 0
2 3 10 180 0
3 4 10 270 0
4 1 10 0 0
4 5 10 270 0
5 6 10 0 0
6 7 10 270 0
7 8 7 180 0
8 5 10 90 0
*end test

A quick look at the result with 3dtopos suggests you've fixed it but loading
the 3d file into Aven gives a dialog box containing

"Assertion failed! ... File: gfxcore.cc... line: 1953... Expression: how_far
 >= 0..." The process then locks up and has to be removed with the Windows
Task Manager. (It sits in an unresponsive loop grabbing increasing amounts
of memory).

Is there a spec for the new 3d format?

All the best,
Mike
