Those of you using Linux or considering using it will be pleased to hear
that Survex is now included in the Debian GNU/Linux distribution as 'just
another bit of software'.
It (survex 0.99-pre5, numbered 0.99.5 in Debian-speak) has just been
installed in Debian unstable and is therefore now available as x86, arm,
sparc, powerpc, alpha, mips, ia64 and mipsel (hppa failed as the aven
graphics libraries are not yet available on that platform) binary packages
and source. If you already run Debian unstable you can install it by doing
apt-get install survex-aven
(which will install both Aven and Survex - you can also choose to just
install Survex if you really want to).
This should also become available in the testing distribution in a couple of
weeks time, which should become the release version of Debian sometime around
the end of the year which means it will be included on standard CDs/DVDs.
Thanx to ol for much work in making everything conform.
