Thanks for the pointer, it looks promising - the license appears to be GPL
compatible, and the code is available as a library with interfaces in many
languages including C and C++.

I'd been thinking of using gd <http://www.boutell.com/gd/> but that only
supports JPEG (which is for photos and inappropriate for surveys), WBMP (for
wireless web devices), and PNG.  PNG is a suitable format, but it would be
useful to support others.

Is there interest in a Swedish version of Survex?  If so, get in touch and I
