That's quite disappointing (that Aven is slower). I suspect it may be
to do with the GTK/wxWindows layers (there is an issue relating to the
drawing of lines which I need to attend to, but I don't think fixing
that will increase performance on anything except Windows). I will
investigate.
You're not using a debug version of the wxWindows library, I assume?
(check using "ldd").
