I started using xcaverot under Digital Unix, and seem to remember
getting the 64bit issues sorted at the time (1996). However its
possible that changes made since then have broken it again, I've only
been trying it on Linux more recently. The black-on-black issue, may be
something to do with default colours on your Xserver being set
differently.

Xcaverot isn't really under much active development at the moment. I
got it working in 96, and added a few experimental bits shortly after,
but never got round to properly tidying it up.

I have access to a Digital Unix box, and will have a look when I get a
moment to two.
