Would it be more helpful to keep the root name as something (ie CaveXML or KML) then add 
suffixes for special versions (ie CaveXML-Survey or KML-Survey, CaveXML-Map or KML-Ma0)? 
That would allow a consistent naming scheme to be used for any new format to be added without 
effecting the root name, whatever it may be.

FWIW, this also translates nicely into Namespaces (ie CaveXML:Survey or KML:Survey)
