Fedora 44 - Error compiling survex

On a test machine - I had to uninstall Jim Begley's rpm package of
survex, else the entire Fedora 44 upgrade was aborted. Now I am trying
to compile it from the git source code repository. I think I figured
out most of the requirements. Make runs almost to the end, then gives this:

======================
make[3]: Entering directory
'/home/bgee/Installs/survex/doc/manual.latex/latex'
latexmk -pdf -dvi- -ps-  'survex.tex'
Rc files read (in order):
   /etc/latexmkrc
   ./latexmkrc
Latexmk: This is Latexmk, John Collins, 9 March 2026. Version 4.88.
Latexmk: Nothing to do for 'survex.tex'.
Latexmk: All targets (survex.pdf) are up-to-date
Collected error summary (may duplicate other messages):
   pdflatex: gave an error in previous invocation of latexmk.

Latexmk: Sometimes, the -f option can be used to get latexmk
   to try to force complete processing.
   But normally, you will need to correct the file(s) that caused the
   error, and then rerun latexmk.
   In some cases, it is best to clean out generated files before rerunning
   latexmk after you've corrected the files.
make[3]: *** [Makefile:29: survex.pdf] Error 12
make[3]: Leaving directory
'/home/bgee/Installs/survex/doc/manual.latex/latex'
make[2]: *** [Makefile:705: manual.pdf] Error 2
make[2]: Leaving directory '/home/bgee/Installs/survex/doc'
make[1]: *** [Makefile:417: all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory '/home/bgee/Installs/survex'
make: *** [Makefile:354: all] Error 2
=====================

Am I missing yet another package?

And, by the way, Therion compiled and runs just fine.
