OK, Debian unstable now has Survex 1.2.20 packaged and this has migrated
to 'testing'.
There are backports of this for the last two stable releases of Debian
(jessie and wheezy) uploaded and awaiting manual approval.
And I've backported the newest version the backport policy lets me
(1.2.16) for Debian squeeze (also awaiting approval).

The Ubuntu PPA now has 1.2.20 for trusty, utopic and vivid:
https://launchpad.net/~survex-developers/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+packages
I've also requested deletion of the ancient versions for out of support
versions of Ubuntu - even the newest builds were of Survex 1.2.5, which
is before v8 of the .3d format.
I will try to do a better job of updating the PPA. If anyone with
Debian/Ubuntu packaging skills wants to look after it, I'm happy to have
help.
Cheers,
Olly
