OK, so that's just reading in survex data in the local co-ordinate
system, which is what terraintool puts out. You can tell it
(terraintool) to do a 250m grid too (which I think is helpful on big
datasets - our austria data suffers from too many surface lines with a
50m spacing). Although getting the nice outline shape would still need
manual work.

So the patch is to allocate data inside a *terrain block to a new
button and line colour. I agree that separating terrain from surface
is handy, as is the colour change. This is actually very easy to do.

Now, if someone can just find phil's patch to save us doing it again.
