Unless I'm misunderstanding what you mean, that's a bug fix, not a new
bug!
Previously the measuring line ended up pointing to a position where the
mouse pointer no longer was after a plan/elevation transition. Then
the slightest move of the mouse would make it jump to where the mouse
actually was.
So this change makes the line behave as it does when you move the mouse
off a station - the line goes away rather than staying on the last place
it was.
(This isn't completely fixed yet, you still get the same issue when
moving the survey with the keyboard or with a mouse button held down
with the measuring line active - e.g. rotating it with C or V).
The white "there" blob should still be there after you switch
plan/elevation so just moving the mouse over a station should measure
again (just as it does when you move the mouse pointer back over a
station after moving it off a station). That's what I see at least.
Do you think the old behaviour was better? If people found it useful
to be able to manipulate the view with the measuring line in place,
we could just restore the old behaviour, or perhaps there should be some
way to "fasten on" the measuring line so that it stays where it is even
if you move the mouse.

Yeah, I didn't transfer this fix back. It looked a bit more invasive
than I'd like for a fix for an essentially cosmetic bug.
