Survex Digest, Vol 10, Issue 4

Mark,
	I am using OS 10.3.9 on a Mac 1.3 GHz G4 desktop system and have just 
begun to investigate using Survex with my Mac. To date I have not 
actually used Survex with actual cave survey data but plan to begin 
soon with our complete survey data from about five years (summers only) 
worth of survey effort. I will take a good look at Survex and see how 
well it meets my needs very soon. The survey effort I am working with 
is a re-survey effort aimed at locating historic and pre-historic use 
areas as well as bat hibernaculum locations in a Tennessee cave in the 
US. We have also found quite a bit more cave than the original 
surveyors found. I have taken over as project leader thus switching 
from the former leader's PC to my preferred Mac platform. I chose 
Survex as it appears to be the only OS X compatible cave survey 
software out there. Yes Aven did appear a bit slow. I may eventually 
use my old "Wallstreet" G3 powerbook with 10.3.9 and run Survex in 
field locations for quick looks at survey efforts of the day etc. I'll 
let you know how that works out as well.

Survex on OS X. I hope to be able to help your efforts by providing 
feedback etc .
