Indeed, this was my approach.  I got as far as playing with wxWindows and
with understanding the Aven sources.  I definitely have more time on my
hands these days so expect at least something in a week or two.  I don't
actually have a printer to test any of this on at the moment but at least
this will save paper!

I'd also being going to mention Carto which claims to do a lot of things
Therion wants to do but has been around a bit longer.  Never used it though.
