No.  They contain extra information (survey dates) which will allow
surveys to be coloured by date, etc:

(Note that this colour-by-date code isn't in CVS yet).

Eventually I'll tell Survex 1.0.x how to ignore the extra information so
it can read these files.  But not yet as there's more extra information
to include, and even the format of the date information isn't finalised.

You should be able to read 3d files from older versions with Survex 1.1
though - if not, that's a bug.
