I have in mind that only one would be valid at a time (sorry, I should
have explained this). For example:
*units compass degrees
1 2 10.24 300.5 -01
; This would be rejected as an error: 1 2 10.24 300.5' -01
*units compass degminsec
1 2 10.24 300.30' -01
; This would be rejected as an error: 1 2 10.24 300.30 -01
Otherwise (as you point out) the danger of transcription errors is too high.
