It's not that long ago that we used to process the surveys for quite
significant caves (1500 survey legs of the Stellerweg system) on a
BBC micro with 20 kb of R.A.memory, which included the screen as well
as memory for the OS, the language in use and the survey program.
Originally data were on CUTS tape, but later we had it easy with
100k floppy discs. When I got to play on a PDP-11 the 256k of RAM
was like having the whole ocean to play in. Now we can't do anything
useful in 2 Mb ?!!?
