Hi

During five days of furious coding I have produced version 2 of Aven,
a fast viewer for Survex 3D files.

Currently version 2 is only available for Windows platforms. It is
available for download from:

	http://mrs30.quns.cam.ac.uk/aven

where source and binary versions are available. The binary version has
been compiled on Windows 2000 and I do not know if it will work on other
versions of Windows: feedback would be appreciated. No DirectX or OpenGL
support is required to run Aven. The source version is for building with
Visual C++ (note you must build a release version or it will be slow).
Other compilers should build it but you must have MFC. Do not forget to
enable full compiler optimisation and function inlining.

Please let me know if any problems are found.

Aven uses a new quaternion-based rendering engine (try left mouse button
drag with Control held down...) which could form a basis for Spud.

I expect to have a Unix version of Aven 2 finished sometime towards the
middle of January.

So, Happy Christmas to all, and have fun :)

Mark
